"Angelfood Ministries" I'm making Chili with my AF ground beef!

I'm trying this Chili with the ground beef  I got in my Angelfood signature box for March.  We are really enjoying our food.  You can order your April Angelfood order at ALVC any Sunday following service, or you can order on line through Overflow Ministries.

If you order online and want to pick up your order at ALVC just let us know at the information desk after service on any Sunday prior to the pick up date.  The pick- up date for April is April 17, 2010 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.

Help us support AngelFood who gives food around the world to help people in need.  As we help them we also help ourselves.

With the signature box you can feed a family of four for five days.  That is $6.00 a day or $1.50 a person.  How great is that!

If you live in another part of Cincinnati or another area of the country go on line to www.angelfoodministries.com and find a host site in your area.  There are host sites in many cities across the country.

Enjoy the Chili.

Easy Breezy Crockpot Chili

1 lb. of lean ground beef or turkey

1 can of Bush's Hot or Mild Chili Beans (depending on how much kick you want to give it)

1 can of Del Monte Diced Chili Style tomatoes

1 pkg. of chili powder (you pick the kick)

You can also add 1 chopped green pepper and 1 small chopped onion if you like
Brown and drain the ground beef or turkey

Pour into the crockpot:

Canned ingredients

Chili Powder

Browned and drained meat

Chopped Pepper and Onion (if you chose to include them). If you did, also add about a half of a can of water into the crockpot.

Turn Crockpot on High and cook for 1/2 hour. That's it.

This recipe doesn't sound like much, but it is super quick and easy and makes an absolutely delicious chili. Serve with a salad or over Frito chips and enjoy!

The Language of Couponing Part Two

This is part two of "The Language of Couponing." It has helped me save a lot of money. I hope it will help you. I'm writing this before I go to sleep. I don't want you to miss a deal. The new weekly fliers are out for most of the stores. I have already been to CVS today. My bill was $61.00 and I paid $29.00. I took my husband with me. It amazes him how I use coupons to save us money. He is learning, but I haven't sent him on his own yet to do a big shop. He is close!

The following list is good information to know. I have found the more information you have regarding coupon use the better. I am still learning.

Walgreens has a coupon booklet that is usually next to their fliers. I have found coupons in that little booklet and the same product on sale in the store, and on top of that, I had a manufacturers coupon which you can use with the store coupon from your booklet(this is called stacking). Many times I get the item for free or almost free. I really love when that happens. I always pick up one or two booklets each time I'm in the store. They come out at the end of the month.

Rolling Catalinas - (Catalina print at the register) You can use your catalina as payment on another transaction of equal merchandise and another catalina will still print.
Example: If you buy five (5) brand name items a five ($5) catalina will print. Then you buy another set of five of the same items you can use the previous catalina to pay toward your order and another $5 catalina will print.
This can be a big money saver.

Internet Printable - Can be found on most Manufacturers websites and on blogs.
Check this blog for coupons.

Inserts - RP Red Plum SS Smart Source PG Proctor & Gamble GM General Mills usually found in the Sunday Paper. They all have websites you can print coupons from.

Stacking coupons - Is when the store allows you to use their store coupons along with a manufactures coupon for the same item.

I hope this is helpful to you. Leave a comment and let me know.

The Language of Couponing

Yes, Coupon World does have it's own language. Just as it is all over the natural world there is a special Coupon language used in stores and on blogs. In order to navigate in coupon world you must know and understand the language. There are terms and abbreviations that will help you navigate successfully in the world of coupons and save you a lot of money.

Here is a listing of abbreviations and terms that you need to know:

Q - Coupon

B1G1/BOGO - Buy one get one free. Sometimes there are Buy one get two free.

CRT - cash register tape. Your receipt

Blinkie - A coupon that prints out at a machine in the store. Usually located near the product they are associated with. Note: At some CVS stores it is a red machine near the front of the store.

Catalina - Sometimes called CAT. A coupon that prints out at the register that is either $$ off your next purchase or $$ off a product. Usually they must be used at the store that issued them.

Closeouts - Drastically reduced products that are being discontinued.

Double coupons - The store will double the value of a coupon up to a certain value.
Kroger and Meijer will double coupons up to .50. Ex. .25=.50 and .50=$1.00.

ECB - Extra Care Bucks - Only at CVS. They are CVS "cash" do not throw them away.
Use them like money on your next visit. Check restrictions.

FAR - Free after rebate

RR - Register rewards are exclusive to WalGreen. Walgreen "cash" Use on your next visit.

MFR - Manufacturer

MIR - Mail In Rebate

Rain Check - A slip of paper given to you by the clerk when the store is out of a sale item. Always ask for a rain check.

Peelie - Coupons found on products in the store. Don't forget to pull these off and hand them to the clerk when you check out. Don't wait for the clerk to pull them off for you, she might not see them.

$$/$$ - Is the $ amount you get off for every # you buy. Example $4/8 (Kroger)means you get $4.00 off every 8 participating product you buy. Another example $5/$25 is $5 off a purchase when you spend $25.00.

Dreams Visions and Saving Money

This is the day that the Lord has made.   Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

My whole church is involved in a "Journey to Freedom".  Freedom from what ever it is that is holding you back from being all God created you to be.  We are in the fourth of our six week journey, and what a challenge this journey has been.  One of the first questions asked is, what has held you back from accomplishing your dream? Of course the dream is different for everyone.

I have thought long and hard about the question and really, I don't have a concrete answer yet.  One of the questions I asked myself is; what is it that really brings me joy?  My answer to myself is- helping other people.  I have not really defined what that really looks like yet.

Today I read a posting from Bishop Bronner on my facebook page, he quoted  Jason Garcia, who said, "A better life will come your way the second you get up and start walking toward it."  What a powerful statement!

Step one then must be to focus on what you want to do.  In my case  that is helping others.  The word of God tells us to write the vision and make it plain.  I know a part of that vision is helping to pass helpful information to you through this blog.  I have lived a long prosperous (not money so much) life. I have had many experiences which has given me knowledge about a great many things. Things that I can share with those who are younger than I am and maybe help them avoid some pitfalls.  I also love to read so I continue to gain new information to share.  So that is the steps I am taking right now on my journey.  I'm still not sure of what else I want to do but, I will keep you informed as I gain new insight.

I'm getting up and starting walking toward my dream.  How about YOU???

Now, "Let's save some money"
Here are some blogs that I follow, these ladies will keep us up to date on sales, couponing, coupon match up at our favorite stores.  They do a great job so check them out.
1.  Follow my friend Tara on Twitter at Coupon Boot Camp
2.  Penneypinchingdiva.com
3.  Dealseekingmom.com
FYI  Target has Dial Nutriskin Hand Soap on sale this week for $1.37 a bottle  use the $.35 coupon from the Red Plum insert in March 7, 2010 paper, combine it with the $1.00 Target coupon and pay $0.02.  Yes 2 cent,  I said 2 cent a bottle.  Sounds like saving money to me.  If you don't have that coupon, check the coupon exchange box at church on the information desk.  If your church does not have a coupon exchange, you can start one. Send me an email at nnikkigbgb@zoomtown.com and I will tell you how.

The Hunt!!

The hunt is on for silver dress-up shoes.  It seems to me that when I was not looking for silver shoes; they were everywhere.  Now, when I need a pair of silver shoes with a heel shorter than two and a half inches.  I can not seem to find them.  I need standing shoes; not sit down shoes, which  really are the ones I like.

I just had a big, big birthday.  The days of standing for long periods of time in very high heels are passed and gone.  I'm saving those tall, too cute shoes for sitting down, legs crossed and  feet  looking pretty.

I have looked all over and have seen some of the most beautiful silver shoes that are two and a half inches high or higher, but I have yet to find a really cute pair of two inch heels.  I cannot believe the height of the shoes I am seeing. I know the designers are designing for the young these days.

If you spot a pair of silver open toe heels that are two inches high, email me at nnikkigb@zoomtown.com.  I will thank you forever.

Target's Coupon to Cell Phone Program

Target will roll out their first scandable mobile coupons for your cell phone tomorrow, Wednesday.
I am so excited; no more clipping for those who hate it.  Target is the first, but you know everyone else will follow.  I hear JCP is trying a like program.  It's just a matter of time and no more clipping! It will be scan from the cell and print from the computer.  This new technology just facinates me.  Target is the first mass retailer to offer this program.  ''The coupons will work with any phone that has a browser and data plan,'' says Target.  New coupons will be issued on a monthly basis as older ones expire.
The coupons are redeemed when the barcode on the cell phone is scanned at checkout.

No need to clip coupons for target, not only will you save money but also your valuable time.  No more excuses for not using your coupons. Target will launch this program in all of it's stores tomorrow.
Target really has some good high value coupons every week  Love that Target.

"Secret" Rental Car Filth!!!!!!!!!!

This morning the Today show exposed yet another disturbing, disgusting, gross report of filth in the market place.  I really appreciate the Today Show informing us of this harmful invasion in our lives; but really it is grossing me out. It especially concerned me today; because, I had to rent a car this morning.

It seems rental  car agencies have cut back on their cleaning crews. They are  taking very little precautions to protect the public.

When I pick up my rental I will have a supply of Clorox wipes to clean the steering wheel, the knobs, door handles and any thing that we will need to touch.

One of the things to be really concerned about is renting a child's car seat with your car and putting a defenseless baby in that seat. MSNBC hired a lab to test  cars they rented from six  major car rental agencies. The lab found very serious contamination in all but two of them.  One of the bacteria among the many they found was the bacteria that causes strep infections. As we all know strep is a very dangerous infection that can kill.

A word to the wise, be sure you wipe the car's interior and the outside door handles down with an antibacterial solution while you are wearing glove.  Wipe it down before you leave the lot.
Let's be safe!
