Free Food Household Tips Deals and Sales

Hello Weekend!
Things to do places to go and people to see.  It's a busy frugal life for me.  I should write a song.
Any hoo.........
Kids are still eating free at Ihop during August until Wednesday August 31, 2011 from 4pm-10pm.  Take the kids to celebrate going back to school.  Enjoy, enjoy!

The Ladies Room
Ladies' Roadside Emergency Kit

Now, this is an excerpt from an article I read on kotex.com.  You can read the whole thing by clicking on go now in the next line.   I don't know why I never thought of some of the items she put in the bag.

Transform your glove compartment into a "girl-love" compartment with a few supplies and suggestions from Ms. Maxi! Go Now>>

Travel-sized products are great for small spaces and you can itemize your own kit to suit your personal preferences. Here are some items worth considering.

• Pad, tampon, or pantiliner. Whatever your preference, or one of each.
• Wipes. Individually packaged to prevent drying out.
• Bandages. Assorted sizes.
• Pain reliever. Aspirin or acetaminophen.
• Safety pins. For broken bra straps or busted buttons.
• Mini sewing kit. Ditto.
• Nail file. A metal one that can smooth nail edges or loosen tiny screws.
• Stain remover stick. For clothes and upholstery, because spills happen.
• Tissues. Not all bathrooms are well stocked and not all trips have convenient pit stops.
• Hand sanitizer. Choose a pocket-sized bottle or in convenient wipe form.
• Hand lotion. For dry hands and for eliminating static when lightly applied on or under clothing.
• Lip balm. Moisturize your lips and apply it to bug bites to help relieve itching.
• Hairspray. Keeps your coif in place and stops nylon runs.
• Comb or brush. Plus a bobby pin or two.
• Mouthwash or breath mint. Because brushing isn’t always practical.
• Deodorant. Armor for underarms.
• Light stick. Light up the night. Use it as a roadside beacon or for club fun.
• Money. Throw in $5, a $10 or a $20 and always have an emergency fund.

Once you’ve gathered your handpicked essentials, place them in a cute water-resistant makeup bag or pouch and tuck it neatly into your glove compartment. (Be sure to replace emergency items after using them, otherwise, what’s the point, right?)

Tips
Summer is winding down, winter ice and snow will be here before we know it.  Keep this tip in mind;  I know we will need it.
For icy door steps in freezing temperatures: get warm water and put Dawn dishwashing liquid in it. Pour it all over the steps. They won't refreeze.

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn's natural sweetness.  This really increases the taste of corn.  Only boil it for six minutes.  Juicy!

Bounce fabric softner sheets repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop  or in your pocket when outdoors during mosquito season.

To eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

To deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

I hear Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever  wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week?  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Each day has a different color twist tie.  They are:  Monday = Blue,  Tuesday = Green, Thursday = Red, Friday = White and Saturday = Yellow.   So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)!

The colors go alphabetically by  color   Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow

I thought this was a great lesson, I never heard this information, have you?

This year my computer crashed and I lost so many pictures.  I don't ever want that to happen to me again.  This is a great time to get those vacation pictures in hard copy.  This sounds like a deal to me about .12 a print.

Blessings,
Jean
