Frugal......What is it?

Frugal is... what it is!
Frugal is different for every person. Jenn Fowler at FrugalUpstate.com said, "Frugal is a philosophy: being conscious and caring and creating priorities.

I read a post on frugalhacks.com from an interview with the writer at deweystreehouse.blogspot.com. She said, "Frugal means being very careful about where the money goes and finding ways to live even better-than-average without having to spend a lot of money to do it. And doing it honestly."

I really like both of these definitions. I came into a revelation of frugality late, but what I have learned is that it is a godly life style.
I have always believed that God wants us, his children, to enjoy all that he has prepared for us. It seems, however, some of us wanted to have it all at one time.(lol) That would be me. Now, that philosophy only leads to lack in the long run. This is evidenced by the economic crisis we face today.

God has given us many good and precious gift. His desire for us is that we live an abundant life.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Frugality is pratical. God is pratical. He does not waste anything. You may think this is just a little spritually over the top; but go with me for a moment. Coupons, discounts, sales, freebies and such are wonderful gifts. They help us live a more frugal life. Coupons help the giver and the receiver. They help the giver get sales and they encourage us the receiver to buy what we need or desire and save some money. We must eat; therefore we must buy food, and the necesities of life. People need jobs so there must be food producers, sellers etc. Everyone gains. Coupons a good gift! Use all the money saving gifts God has supplied.

Frugal is... whatever it means to you.

Let's save some money!

God the comforter who loves Haiti

2 Cor. 1:3-4
What a wonderful God we have--he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, [4] and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.

Help For Haiti

It's 4:30 am. I've been watching the blow by blow report from Haiti on CNN since I arrived at work. My heart grieves for the people especially the children. Anderson Cooper and Larry King have done a wonderful job of informing the world of the total devastation which is staggering. More devastation than I have seen in my lifetime. Very little water, food and medical care. Not to mention, no bathroom, no beds only outdoor parks, streets and fields to sleep in; if they can sleep. So much fear on their faces. They reported that after shocks continues at 5.0 sometimes. I can't even imagine how horiffic it must be.

We can help! We can send money! I spoke with Matthew 25 Ministries( an International Humantarian Ministry) this morning. The spokes person said that money was the most expedient way for us to help. You can go to their website m25m.org and donate at the site.

You may call them at 513 793-6256 for more information.

You can also show up at their office from 9 am until 3 pm Monday to Friday or Saturday 9 am until 12 noon if you would like to volunteer to pack and load the trucks of supplies they are sending to Haiti. You don't need to sign up prior to going. The address is 11060 Kenwood Rd. Blue Ash, Oh.

They also need canned and non-perishable food. (Add a can opener) Personal care products--Cleaning products and First aid products.

***Put your coupons to special use and buy extra products to donate. Coupons on a mission

Most importantly let us continue in prayer for the people.

Secrets of a Bargain Shopper

Shopping at the retail stores can be a costly venture; but, there are ways to score great savings. Try these the next time you plan a shopping trip:
1. Buy on sale or at discount. Then, combine the sale with a printed coupon from the store's website, or a store code from the web at Retailmenot.com.

2. Don't be afraid to ask for a discount.

3. Sign-up for the stores frequent shopper list to get email alerts of promotions.

4. Become a fan of the store on Facebook.

5. Search the store web-sites before you leave home. Macy, Kohls, JC Penney and Deb Stores frequently offer $10.00-$15.00 off a purchase of $10-15.00 or more. FYI: You can really just purchase an article for $10.00 and all you pay is the tax.

6. Check these sites for additional savings: markdownalot.com
Couponcabincabin.com and goodhousekeeping.com/save. When you buy a product with the Good Housekeeping seal, you get the gurantee from Good Housing Keeping that they will refund or repair your product if it is defective. Look in the magazine or on the product lable for the gurantee policy. It is a great policy.

Thrift Store and Consignment Shoppers Secrets

1. There is more to be found in thrift stores than clothes. Great books, electronics, cookware, fabric and much more. There is something for everyone.

2. Shop in thrift stores in high income zip codes. Do your research. You are more likely to find brand name, higher quality, newer clothing and furnishings, and especially children's clothing.

3. FYI!!! Most merchandise is dropped off at thrift stores on the weekend. Shop on Tuesday for the best buys. The stores are less crowded on Tuesday.
4. Shop early in the day.
5. Learn the mark down colors, or ask the clerk what is the mark down policy.

6. Consignment Shops usually carry higher price merchandise and are usually found in the higher zipcode areas.

Remember There's "Money to be save" in them there stores!!!!!!!!!!!!Ha!HA!
Laughing all the way to the bank.

"Happy New Year"

Welcome to 2010.

2 Cor. 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Don't you just love a new year? A chance to start afresh. Hopefully getting it right this time. I know I do. 2009 had so many negative financial reports; but on the other hand we received more information on way to prosper than at any other time in my memory.

Frugality, saving making due with what God has already blessed us with became more real in 2009. Let's not forget the lessons we've learned. Let's let frugality be our life style. Remember frugality is not cheap, it is expedient.

It't is my goal to share information with you this year as I work toward my goal of being a doer of the word. I will be sharing ways I have learned to cut back but continue to live the life I desire.

Money is a tool and should be used to enjoy all God has purposed for us.
This is what I believed God showed me to do with the money he has entrusted to me.
1. To give.
2. To save
3. To spend.
4. To invest

So, my goal this year is to be a good stewart of the trust.
I will be posting things I hear, things I read and things I have learned over my life time that will help us "Save Some Money".

One of the best ways to get started saving is to use what's in your hand.
Most of us buy the Sunday paper. Every week there are inserts in the paper with high value coupons just waiting for you to use. If you only use one $1.00 coupon a week on something you are going to buy anyway, thats $4.00 a month or $48.00 a year. Now you can easily make that savings $10.00 a week with just the coupons in the paper. I haven't shopped this week. I stopped in two stores. I stopped in Walgreen's and CVS on my way home on Monday and Tuesday. I always have my coupons with me. In just two stores with about 30 minutes of my time I saved $36.03 and received $10.00 ECB from CVS to use on my next visit. Idon't know about you but I don't make $36.00 in a half hour at my job. Now think about it if I save $36.00 a week and I do; over a year that's $1872.00 a year. Sounds like vacation money to me. It is so easy and that $1872.00 is tax FREE. So, "Let's save some money"

If you really want to learn how to really, really save money just using coupons:
