Freebies for Everyone....Nothing is Better than Free

I hope you are ready for the holiday weekend, yipee! I'v got freestuff for you to enjoy, some you can enjoy this weekend.

All You, my favorite Magazine, posted and article about getting stuff for free; you know there is nothing better than free. I thought I would share some of the free stuff with you. She was so impressed with her ice cream plate, all beautifully decorated with chocolate swirls; she took a picture of it and put it on Facebook. Four or five of the staff sang a cute Happy Birthday to her. It was the highlight of our lunch.

IN DEPARTMENT STORES: Cosmetics and fragrance counters always let you sample products. Always ask for fragrance samples when you are in the department store. It is a great way to try a new fragrance before you buy. Nothing worst than buying a fragrance and not liking it later. You need to wear it a while to make a decision, at least I do.

SEPHORA: Sign up for Beauty Insider at sephora.com and stop in on your birthday for a pampering present. Sephora has also been known to offer a free lip gloss or lotion sample. There’s no guarantee, but it’s worth a shot to inquire.

KidsFreebies

On their birthdays, bring your children to Baskin-Robbins for ice cream, Boston Market for free food or Sonic for a kid’s meal. They also can receive a free meal if you enroll them in the CPKids Birthday Club at California Pizza Kitchen and the Kids’ Birthday Club at your local Denny’s (check first—it varies by location).

Free at the Doctor’s Office

THE DENTIST’S OFFICE: If your hygienist or dentist doesn’t offer you a free toothbrush, toothpaste or floss, there’s no harm in asking.

AT THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE: When your physician writes you a new prescription, ask for a free sample of the medication. Doctors often have extras. I find that my doctors really wants you to ask for free samples especially for a new medication. It is really a good way to see if the new med will work for you since you can't return a prescription if it doesn't work. Also if you forget to re-order your meds or you just don't have the money and need them today, call your doctor's office and ask for samples, they will sometimes give you enough to last until you can get your prescription filled.

My favorite digital Goddess...Kim Komando always has many useful freebies to share. Please visit her at www.komando.com you will be so glad you did. This week she posted five ways to save money on the ink we use for our printers. The price of ink just boggles my mind. We need all the help we can get in this area. Remember to pay her a visit and get her daily emails.

GreenPrint - This program eliminates wasted pages before printing. Begin printing any document or Web page as you normally would. GreenPrint will start automatically. It will show each page you've selected to print. Wasted pages are highlighted in red. Those are the ones it will remove.
If you want to print a page that's going to be removed, double-click it. It will be returned to the print lineup. You can remove pages manually, too. Double-click any page to stop it from printing. GreenPrint records everything that you remove. Then it calculates how much money has been saved.

PrintWhatYouLike - The name of this program is fairly self-explanatory. It lets you print only certain parts of a Website. That way, you aren't wasting paper and ink.

Just copy and paste the Website URL into the site. You will get a comprehensive layout editor. It lets you select Web page elements to keep or remove. You can change the size of the text or turn off the background. When you have just the parts you want, you can print.

HP Smart Web Printing - HP Smart Web Printing lets you select portions of a Web page to print. So, there's no wasted ink or paper.

PDFCreator - This handy program lets you create PDF files. Simply select a printable Windows file and print to the PDFCreator. Your document will save in PDF format.

Ecofont - Ecofont Vera Sans is a fun and unique way to save money on printing. It's a typeface that has holes in each letter. That means there's less ink needed per letter.
Ecofont says that you can save up to 25 percent on ink and toner with this font. And the holes are so small that it doesn't affect legibility. It's still very clear and readable

Tips 6/22/11

Hello Everyone,
I have a few tips for you today. I hope they are a help to you.
I got this tip from the mother of triplets. In another life I am a Nurse and I had the joy of caring for one of these triplets a few years ago. It was really a joy, a fun family. These wipes work just as well as the pre-packed ones. We used Bounty towels they worked well. Give them a try and let me know if they save you money. You can get the baby oil and baby shampoo at the dollar store and save a few dollars or go on one of the company website and look for a coupon. If you don't find a coupon, send an email to the company and ask for one....we have not because we ask not. It works for me everytime.

Homemade Baby Wipes

Mix a cup of water with 2 Tbs each of baby oil and baby shampoo, pour into an empty wipes container or any round plastic container with a lid . Cut a roll of paper towels in half horizontally, remove the cardboard tube and lay it flat in the container to soak, cover and store. It is really a money saver

Beat crazy prices at the pump with smart driving and filling strategies

1. Be loyal Use your grocery store's preferred-customer card to earn extra savings at the pump.
Kroger: For every $100 worth of groceries you buy, save 10 cents per gallon of gas at a Kroger Fuel Center.
Stop & Shop Every dollar you spend at Stop & Shop earns a point on your card. After 100 points, you'll save 10¢/gallon on gas—you can redeem up to $2.20/gallon in a single fill up. Visit stopandshop.com for a store near you.

Just for Mom Fruit Salad

1 can prepared lemon pie filling
12 oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 – 15 oz. can tropical fruit salad, drained
1 – 15 oz. can pineapple tidbits, drained
2 – 11 oz. cans mandarin oranges, drained
2 cups fresh strawberries

Mix lemon pie filling and whipped topping together in a large bowl. Add fruit to mixture and chill in refrigerator from 4 hours to overnight.
When ready to serve, top with fresh strawberries or fruit of your choice and whipped topping.

Tasty, Tasty!

Five Minute Shrimp(from Mr. Food)

Yes, dinner can be on the table in five minutes with our fast, easy recipe for Five Minute Shrimp. Just a few ingredients and a skillet are all it takes to turn out a restaurant-quality meal that tastes amazing.

Serves: 4

Cooking Time: 5 min

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined, with tails on
¹/2 teaspoon seafood seasoning (we like Old Bay)
¹/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons peeled fresh grated ginger (see Notes)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add shrimp, Old Bay seasoning, pepper, and ginger. Cook 2 to 4 minutes, or until shrimp are just pink.
Stir in lemon juice, butter, and parsley; mix well. Serve immediately.

Note: Serve over yellow rice for a tasty meal with eye appeal.

White will Vinegar Remove Sweat Odors

1.BOGO coupons cannot be combined (i.e. you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free).

Target is saying that you can not use a second manufacturer coupon when you are using a BOGO manufacturer coupon. You can use a second Target coupon though. Citrus Cooler Recipe to cool you off on the hot days ahead. Enjoy!

What You Need

1 env. KOOL-AID Sugar Free Lemonade Flavor Low Calorie Soft Drink Mix

2 cups cold water

2 cups cold orange juice

1 bottle (1 L) diet carbonated lemon-lime beverage, chilled

Make It

MIX all ingredients in plastic or glass pitcher.
SERVE immediately over ice.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

I'm on a diet but I want to share this pound cake recipe with you that I found on About.com. If you have not visited with About .com check it out there is information on every possible subject. You will really enjoy the site and the great recipe section. Blessings!

Sour Cream Pound Cake Recipe

This pound cake loaf is the perfect size for most families, and it's absolutely delicious with fruit or a lemon sauce. Pound cake slices make a wonderful base for strawberry shortcakes, too!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Yield: 1 Loaf

Ingredients:

1 stick (4 ounces) butter
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
dash salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Preparation:

Grease and flour an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan. Heat the oven to 300°. With an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and almond extract. Add the baking soda, salt, sour cream, and flour and beat until smooth and well blended.
Spread in the prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour. Increase oven temperature to 325° and bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

It's all about food!

Food, I love to eat good food without spending large sums of money. For Sunday dinner I prepared a Rib-eye Steak dinner for three for less than $10.00. Now Jean, how did you do that you might ask? Well, let me tell you. I bought three choice rib-eye steaks at Kroger that were priced at $21.48 marked down to $8.92 because the had a sell by date of 6/11/1l. I bought them on 6/10/11. When you buy meat just before the sell buy date bring it home and freeze it, when you thaw it it is just as you bought it.

I was at Deals (dollar store) and purchased some frozen vegetables the brand name is T Farms a great buy for a dollar. I also bought broccoli for another meal. I had several Uncle Ben rice coupons that I received from the Company just because I called and told them how much I like their product. If you like a product or dislike a product for some reason don't fail to call the company and let them know in a nice way. I received three $2.50 coupons and one $1.00 coupon from them in less than ten days. They are extremely happy to get good news about a product and almost always send coupons.
So, $8.92 3 choice rib-eye steaks
$1.00 Stir Fry Vegetables
Uncle Ben's Tomatoe Florintine Rice-Free
Total $9.92 for three people
It was really good and took less than 45 Mins. to prepare
Now, was that a great deal or not!

Pork tenderloin is so adaptable to any of our favorite recipes. This easy Vineyard Pork Tenderloin is served with an equally easy Cabernet wine sauce that simply shouts "company special!"

Serves: 6

Cooking Time: 20 min

Ingredients

1.5 to 2 pounds pork tenderloin (2 tenderloins)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
¹/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
1 ¹/2 cups beef broth
¹/4 cup cabernet wine
2 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Sprinkle both pork tenderloins evenly on all sides with garlic powder, salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
Place in baking dish and bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until desired doneness.
Meanwhile, in a skillet, bring beef broth and wine to a boil. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 3 tablespoons water and whisk into broth until thickened. Stir in remaining black pepper and serve over pork tenderloin.
