Coupons Deals Free Stuff and Money saving Ideas

 Hello Everyone, Welcome to Monday!

I just returned from a week in the Smookies with all six of my grand children, my husband and my son. We had a great time.  It was really a beautiful frugal trip.  Everyone got in on finding ways to save.  However, I wish we had the frugal tip below while we were there.  It takes a lot of food to feed nine people, three meals a day; for eight days.  I have never done this before.  Although I saved a great deal with pre- planning, cooking the dinners, coupons and deals.  It was still very expensive. This is a great tip that I will use.  If you are on a road trip, remember IHOP is free for kids all of August.  I took advantage of their deal and saved $20.00 off of a $78.00 bill.  Woo Hoo!  Saving, that's what I'm talking about.

A frugal tip is from Anne R: "When my husband and I are traveling, instead of eating at restaurants or fast food places, we opt for the local supermarket. They usually have hot soup and a salad bar. You can have a customized sandwich made and around mealtimes, there are other choices such as pizza, chicken, etc. Most supermarkets have a lunch area with tables and chairs. This is much cheaper than restaurant fare and a healthier choice."

Thanks, Anne R and wisebread

Bulk Food Source

Do you live in a state with an Amish community nearby? I've visited Amish communities in Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. They've all had little stores with terrific prices on bulk merchandise. Just last week I bought flax seed, allspice, and Jell-O powder at amazing prices and dry yeast for less than half what I pay in the grocery store. I've also found oatmeal, flour, various spices, and baking ingredients at Amish bulk stores. Besides the great food prices, the scenic drive through Amish country is priceless!
