Egg Recall Alert!
500,000,000 eggs are being recalled from 22 states across America. 1300 people including children have been infected with salmonella from eating infected eggs. The FDA Chief was quoted as saying it may take days to a few weeks to complete their investigation. She advised we go to http://foodsafety.gov/ with questions about Salmonella and egg safety.

NOTE: Dates and codes can be found stamped on the end of the egg carton or printed on the case label. However, not all affected brands will be printed in the same order. Typically, the plant number begins with the letter P and then the number. In most cases the Julian date follows the plant number, for example: P-1720 223. If your carton has a combination of numbers that matches the affected plant number AND Julian date, your eggs are affected in the recall. Using the example above, P-1720 223 may appear on some cartons as 223 #1720, 1720 223 or other variations. It is important to note that both the plant number and Julian date must match. Gearing Up For Back To School
Get'um up! Get'um dressed! Get'um fed and Get'um out to the school bus. Well, it's here. The next nine month's Monday through Friday routine.
" School is in session"
Gearing up for school can really create stress for you and for the little ones, there are tips to lessen the stress. The key is organization and preparation. Keep it simple.
The little one starting kinder garden or even first grade need a lot of reassurance; at least that has been my experience. Giving them small amounts of information helps ease anxiety. Highlighting the fun they will have with new friends and teachers can really be a benefit.
Four of my six grand children will attend new schools this year and for the first time, three of them will be in different schools. They are excited but there's sadness, apprenhension and questions.
Tips to make the transition easier: A great Breakfast with some protein, some whole grain, some fruit and some milk will give extra brain power and keep them awake. Breakfast, the most important meal of the day.

If they ride the bus make sure they have their address and telephone number inside their book bag and that they have learned it. Sometimes there are new bus drivers, enough said.
You can still take the kids to IHOP for a free meal until 8/31/10.
Talk with them about apprehensions; new teachers, new kids, activities, busing etc

Gearing up for school can really create stress for you and for the little ones, there are tips to lessen the stress. The key is organization and preparation. Keep it simple.
The little one starting kinder garden or even first grade need a lot of reassurance; at least that has been my experience. Giving them small amounts of information helps ease anxiety. Highlighting the fun they will have with new friends and teachers can really be a benefit.
Four of my six grand children will attend new schools this year and for the first time, three of them will be in different schools. They are excited but there's sadness, apprenhension and questions.
Tips to make the transition easier: A great Breakfast with some protein, some whole grain, some fruit and some milk will give extra brain power and keep them awake. Breakfast, the most important meal of the day.

Going back to school....Ah the thrill of it all!
Goodwill report: I did visit the Goodwill Boutique in Mason, OH on tuesday. I found it to be really small, however they did have a good selection of new clothes with the tags attatched. I found a few nice things for my 10 y.o. granddaughter. Two very nice skirts: a brand new jean skirt from Stein Mart that was on sale for $5.00 marked down from $10.00 and a really cute dress skirt for church that was also $5.00. I bought three shirts for her. My total was $15.44; not bad for the quality of the items. I would not make a special trip there, but if you are in the area; you should stop in. The good thing is you can return items for a refund or credit within ten(10) days. The selections at the regular Goodwill stores is far greater. Call them for sale days. On the day I visited there was a 75% off rack. The tops I bought were off that rack.
