TIPS

Ask the Right Person

I heard from somewhere "Don't accept a no from someone who is not authorized to say yes." I went to the store for a specific cake, and there was only one left. It was damaged on the top but still edible. The lady in the bakery section wasn't able to fix it or cover it, and she wasn't able to give me a discount because the manager had gone for the day. So I politely thanked her and went to ask a different store manager if there was any way I could get a discount. I asked very nicely, not expecting to get one. I got half off the birthday cake. And it was for my birthday! It took maybe a minute, and I saved 50% off, which came to $5. Kindness and asking the right person goes a long way.

Eliminating Ants

I had a problem with ants when I moved into another house. I went to a dollar store and bought some ground cinnamon and put it where I thought the ants were coming in. You can even put it on the windowsills, and it won't hurt your kids or pets. Try it. It works.
C

Frugal Liquid Soap

I go to a beauty supply store and purchase shampoo when it is on sale. I normally pay $5 for a gallon of shampoo. I don't care what brand it is. I then use it for hand washing. I put it into a squirt type bottle. It is so much cheaper than buying regular hand wash.

Here are some great frugal money saving uses for day old bread- from an article written by:
Deborah Jeanne Sergeant

Save Bread

• Save slices in the freezer until you get enough for making stuffing. It's great with chicken, pork and turkey.

• Crumb slices with a food processor, along with paprika, parmesan cheese, minced onion, salt and pepper. Top a casserole and broil until browned.

• Pop a slice in the cookie jar to revive hard cookies.

• Make slices into French toast by dipping in a 50/50 batter of egg and milk with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

• Tear up slices and feed the birds.

• Thickly butter slices and sprinkle with garlic powder. Toast in a 350-degree oven for Texas toast.

• Crumb slices for breading. Brush 10 chicken strips in buttermilk and dip into a mix of 1 cup of bread crumbs, 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt, 1/4 tsp. pepper, and 1 tsp. dried cilantro. Bake on a greased rack in a baking pan for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

• Make croutons by cubing slices, tossing in canola oil and sprinkling with garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder to taste. Then baking at 300 degrees until crisp and dry

Eating In or Eating Out....What's for Dinner Today

Boy, what a deal I scored at Walgreens today!  If you and your family  like Salmon; you will love this deal.  At my house Salmon Patties are a frequent main dish.

Walgreens has canned Chicken of the Sea pink salmon for $1.49 this week.  I purchased 4 cans today for ........wait for it....$1.96; they usually sell for $3.69 each which would have been $14.76.  Even at $1.49 they are a deal.

Here is what I did:
I bought Placker Flosser 90 packs that are $2.00 a pack this week with $2.00 Register Rewards (RR). Making them free.
I bought two packs and applied my $4.00 RR to my salmon that were $1.49, so each one cost me .49 .

I was so charged!  What a deal, I saved over $10.00 and got my Salmon and my flossers.
Loving Walgreens today.

I hope you get your salmon this week. Below is a quick and easy recipe for Salmon Patties from Allrecepies that I hope you enjoy. Salmon salad would also be great.

"These salmon patties are delicious for lunch or dinner."

Ingredients:

1 (14.75 ounce) can canned salmon 1 egg 1/4 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions:

1.	Drain and reserve liquid from salmon. Mix egg, onion, bread crumbs and salmon together.
2.	Make into patties. If mixture is too dry to form into patties, add reserved liquid from salmon.
3.	In a frying pan, heat olive oil. Place patties in pan. Brown on each side, turning gently. Drain on paper towels and serve.
