Getting out of a rut--You can do it

By Deborah B. Burnette
When you’re in a rut about your work, your family, or your life in general, the situation can be debilitating.
First, take responsibility for your situation and second, take responsibility for getting yourself out of it. Below are some steps that may help you through the process.

Zap some energy into your life

Consider what you can do to zap some new energy into your life. Do you feel like you have some needs that aren’t being met, some holes that aren’t being filled?

Try building friendships into your busy schedule. How about breakfast twice a month with a good friend whom you never seem to have time to see? Avoid the “I’m too busy” excuse. Make time.

Identify and start doing other things which bring joy into your life. Visit a museum occasionally, lounge on the beach with a good book, or take a ballroom-dancing class with a friend.

You can also make some easy adjustments in your diet to see if what you’re eating may be making you sluggish, or start exercising with a bit more regularity. Little changes can help you to get away from too many stale routines.

Take a look at the long run

If you still feel stuck and suspect it might be something big, like your job or your family situation, do some soul searching. Take time to spend with yourself on this.

Try relaxing for 15 or 20 minutes each day and sorting out your thoughts about work and family.

Keeping a journal can also be very helpful in organizing and evaluating your feelings. Think about what’s working or not working in both spheres, and what makes you happy or not so happy.

Consider a session with a job counselor to evaluate your present work situation. Maybe you could make some changes at work if you feel your job doesn’t fit you well anymore.

Talk to your family as well and don’t be afraid to seek the help of a professional counselor if you feel it may help.
Get an accurate picture of what your family expects from you and examine what you expect from them. Reconfirm with your mate your focus as a couple and determine what’s important to both of you. Work together to set some family goals, so that the decisions you make are for the benefit of everyone.

You do have control.

Sometimes the worst thing about being stuck is the fear that things will only get worse. Keep a positive attitude and continue to move forward; these two steps will help pull you through.

Then bite the bullet and ask yourself some hard questions. As you begin to set goals, you will feel more and more confident that you do indeed steer the course of your life.

7 ways to use Rotisserie Chickens

Rotisseries chickens are a gift. They are a bargain and they are really, really good.
My favorites are Sam's and Kroger brands. The Sam's brand are a little larger than the Kroger brand. I always make two meals with one chicken.
www.myrecipes.com/ Visit the site.
MyRecipes.com sent this posting to my facebook page and made me very happy. I hope they will make you as happy also. Please send me a comment and let me know if you made one of the recipes using one of these chickens.

STILL don't know what you're cooking for dinner? Grab a rotisserie chicken at the grocery, and make one of these recipes: pizza, chicken salad, maybe chicken quesadillas?

bathroom

It's time, let's really clean the bathroom. These five steps to really cleaning the bathroom is presented by Home Made Simple.

With the beginning of a new year comes a fresh start, making it a great time to give your bathroom a thorough top to bottom cleaning. Whether you’re moving into a new home and need to give your new bathroom a refresher, or you just need to revive a familiar space, following our step-by-step tips will help you get a deep clean and a fresh start.

Step-By-Step Cleaning
We start and end each day in the bathroom, so it’s important to maintain a space that’s clean and positive. Follow these five steps to clean your bathroom, and if you’re ringing in the year by moving into a new home, skip to step two since your new bathroom won’t require decluttering.

Step 1: Remove Clutter for Easier Cleaning

* Declutter: Remove all items from the bathroom, including hair products, makeup, soap dispensers and anything that might get in the way of cleaning a surface.
* Toss: As you’re removing items from your bathroom, don’t hesitate to toss anything out that isn’t being used. If something hasn’t been used within the past six months, it can likely be thrown away.
* Sort: When removing items from drawers or cabinets, sort each space’s contents into separate containers so they can easily be returned to their original location. Filing boxes, shoe boxes, reusable grocery bags or brown paper bags can all be used to sort.

Step 2: Clean Your Bathtub or Shower Stall

* Walls: Clean the walls of your bathtub or shower with a solution that doesn’t leave behind the overwhelming smell of bleach. Mr. Clean® Disinfecting Bath Cleaner with Febreze® Freshness is great for the task since it cleans 2x more soap scum per swipe compared to the leading bath spray cleaner while leaving behind a fresh scent, like Febreze Meadows & Rain®.
* Tub or Tile Floor: As tubs and tile flooring experience wear over time, discoloration slowly occurs with the buildup of soap scum—often so gradually that it’s hard to notice any change. Reach for Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser® Bath Scrubber to clean 3x more soap scum per swipe*.
* Shower Curtain or Glass Doors: Don’t forget to polish off your shower or bathtub by cleaning your shower curtain, liner or glass doors. Mr. Clean Disinfecting Bath Cleaners with Febreze Freshness works great for removing soap scum so you can move on to your next task in no time.

Step 3: Clean Your Toilet

* Wipe Down: Start by putting on a pair of rubber gloves, then spray the outside of your toilet, seat included, with Mr. Clean Disinfecting Bath Cleaner with Febreze Freshness. Make sure you also spray around the base and rear of the toilet before you wipe down with paper towels.
* Clean the Bowl: Use a liquid toilet bowl cleaner to line the inner rim of your toilet bowl, allowing the cleaning agents to run down the inside of the bowl. Scrub away grime with a brush, then flush.

Step 4: Clean Your Mirrors, Countertops & Sink

* Mirrors First: Use Mr. Clean® Multi-Surfaces Spray Cleaner with Febreze® Freshness to help give mirrors a streak-free shine while leaving behind the fresh scent of Febreze Lavender Vanilla & Comfort®.
* Counter & Sink: Clean your bathroom counter and sink with a solution that can effectively power through soap scum. Mr. Clean Disinfecting Bath Cleaner with Febreze Freshness makes a great companion and can be used for both counters and sinks, so you only have to use one solution.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

* Floor: To finish your cleaning job, use Mr. Clean Multi-Surfaces Liquid with Febreze Freshness to clean dirt and help eliminate odors on linoleum or tile floors. Cleaning with a scent like Febreze Meadows & Rain®, your bathroom will smell as fresh as it looks.
* Re-Stock: Once you’ve allowed all of the bathroom surfaces to dry, return your items to their original locations, or place items in their new location if you’re just moving in. If you’re in need of more space, consider using some of our bathroom storage solutions.

Enjoy,
Jean

Hello 2011!!

"Let's Save Some Money"
From the deep south to the far north; snow is everywhere.  It's a great day for soup! I saw the recipe below on the Today Show this morning.  I am making it today; just as soon as my husband slides thru the snow to the store for  me to get a chicken.  I cooked all my  little chickens and now it is time to restock.  I have eaten out of my pantry and freezer all the month of December. So, now it is time to look for a great chicken sale.  I will share the deals with you as I find them.
.
Visit the Today Cooking School at: http://today.msnbc.msn.com for a recipe to turn your left over Chicken soup into Chicken Pot Pies.

1 1/2 Pounds of red potatoes cut into lare pieces-Do not peel
 Salt and Pepper to taste
In a large stock pot:  Place  the 7 cups of cold water and whole cut up chicken.  Add the onions, chicken bouillon, celery, and oregano cook for 20 mins. Then add the carrots and potatoes, simmer for an additional 20 mins. or until vegetables are tender.  Adjust salt as needed.
